Program Description

Yoga is the union of the mind, body, and spirit into one functioning entity. Through the refinement of linking one’s breath with body movement, one is able to create stillness in the mind and purity within the body. The combination of breath with movement builds an internal heat called tapas, which cleanses the internal organs and glands, oxygenates the blood and joints, and clears the mind of negative thoughts and stress. The breath removes blockages within the system and allows the system to function as it was meant. Participants will gain an understanding of yoga’s ability to unify the mind, body, and spirit through their practice.

Community Development

Through the Yoga participants will gain exposure to valuable teachings about personal peace and strength. By engaging in yoga together, members of the program will develop a sense of community based on the skills and benefits of yoga, strengthening the group’s ability to transfer these elements to the greater community.

Some benefits of consistent yoga practice are:

  • Improved mental clarity
  • Improved muscle tone and flexibility
  • Release of tension associated with emotional and mental stress

A sense of inner tranquility and contentment
